End of and Era

I haven't written a blog post in a while, but I felt the need to write about this.

This Friday, thousands of Harry Potter fans will gather  in theaters dressed in costume, clutching their wands in their hands waiting to at last see the final installment of the long lasting Harry Potter series. No doubt, this will be one of the most emotional days Harry Potter fans have ever experienced. For fans, this film release truly marks the end of the Harry Potter fandom.

Although I know this fandom will never die ( I mean come on, after this long I don't think we could just throw everything we know about Harry out the window) it's still really emotional to think how soon I will be at LeakyCon, surrounded by amazing people ready to see Harry's final stand on the big screen. It's a little crazy to think how far we've come over all these years. I can remember the early days of my Harry Potter obsession when I was around 9 years old running around with my neighbor with our "invisibility cloaks" and using sticks as wands. Now, I'm 14 and my obsession and bond with Harry is as strong as ever.

As Friday comes closer and closer I can't help but think: How could this fandom ever end? We have come so far, learned so so much from these 7 books, how could is possibly end? And even after this last movie, we still have the books to reread, the movies to rewatch, fan fiction to read and write, wrock music to party to and so much more. In my mind, this Era will around for a while. Because like Jo said, "Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home," and I think in the end, we will all need to return home sooner or later.
